A social network based on news.

An RSS reader at its core, Facts allows users to see up-to-the-minute news from a variety of sources. Users can subscribe to sources, see what their contacts are reading and saying, and can submit their own websites to appear as a source.

Highlights

  • Community controlled news - see only what’s relevant to you.
  • Users can add their own source, encouraging involvement.
  • One page sign-up process avoids an ‘empty’ state by suggesting news subscriptions.
  • Contact feed allows you to see all your friends’ comments, votes and subscriptions.

My Involvement

Market Analysis

Researched and reported on 25 well-known social networks. The data collected here was used to educate our designs and convince our client to go ahead with the project.

Conceptualizing and Wireframing

Planned out features and workflows and created screen layouts. Technical restrictions and feedback garnered from paper-prototypes were considered along the way.

User testing & reporting

Continuously tested the launched website with a variety of users. Tests were conducted both remotely (with users in Switzerland, me in Japan) and locally (users in Japan).
